In the Zone – June 2026

Hello Zone 7!

Summer is arriving fast, and with it comes some of the busiest—and best—months of the PCA calendar.

Across Zone 7, the sounds of early morning cars-and-coffee gatherings, autocross engines echoing across parking lots, and caravans of Porsches heading toward tours and events are becoming part of the rhythm of the season. This is the time of year where participation really comes alive.

Some members are chasing cones.
Some are polishing paint for concours.
Some are preparing for Parade.
Some are planning cruises, track events, or road trips.

And many are simply enjoying what brought us all here in the first place: driving these amazing cars with amazing people.

Whether you attend one event or twenty this year, I encourage you to get involved beyond your home garage. Visit another Region. Try a new activity. Meet someone new. PCA continues to thrive because members continue to participate.

Zone 7 Non-Competition Award

Each year the 10 Region Presidents are solicited for nominees to be enshrined on the Zone 7 non-competitive award list. These are then voted on by the presidents. There is a perpetual trophy and a keepsake trophy is presented.

🏅 Wall of fame inductee Dave Dunwoodie

Congratulations, Dave!

Honore D’Angelo, Dana Drysdale and I surprised Dave at the Loma Prieta Autocross held 5/17. Thank you to Shiela Dunwoodie for helping us make this happen and keeping it a secret.

Dave Dunwoodie – Zone 7 Wall of Fame Nomination Resume Wall of Fame – This award is for those who have made a significant contribution to PCA and/or the Porsche community at large, through participation in social, technical, or competitive events or through club service to PCA. Recipients will be members of a Zone 7 Region. Activity outside PCA must demonstrate our core value of “it’s not just the cars, it’s the people”.

Dave Dunwoodie Summary: Dave Dunwoodie joined PCA in 1990 and has been a member of both Golden Gate and Loma Prieta Regions for 36 years. From the beginning, he is a constant competitor in Autocross, Rally, and Time Trials, including multiple class wins over many years. Dave is a recipient of the Ken Iles Competition Driving award for competitive results and good sportsmanship.

Dave served Golden Gate Region (GGR) as Newsletter Editor in 1998 and 1999 and received the 1999 Perc Bliss award, the President’s Award from GGR. Dave has been recognized as Enthusiast of the Year by Loma Prieta Region (LPR) many times.

Dave served on LPRs Board as Activities Director 3 years while also volunteering extensively as part of the Autocross (AX) team. Dave is widely known for his AX volunteering critical to operation of the LPR AX program since 2013 and serving as AX Chair from 2019 to 2026. Dave is also in charge of Parking for Werks Reunion, an extremely large project and responsibility.

Dave Dunwoodie brought LPR AX back during Covid. Loma Prieta AX, and possibly Zone 7 AX, could not have survived without Dave Dunwoodie. Dave, along with his wife Sheila Dunwoodie, also participates and helps with tours and social events as much as possible.

Dave Dunwoodie – Zone 7 Wall of Fame Nomination Resume

Leadership and Enthusiasm for LPR, PCA, Porsche and People. Whatever is needed for LPR, AX, Werks, Participation and more, Dave gets done, with a ton of enthusiasm and joy and a minimum of fuss. His support for PCA and Porsche is endless.

Dave also works behind the scenes to remind us of what we need to get done and to give us “Dave recognition” for when our spirit and work is enthusiastic enough to be effective. He has served on LPR’s Nominating Committee for years, consistently making valuable contributions and positively influencing the team.

Even a portion of Dave’s contributions would be significant to Social, Technical and Competitive Events and are a tremendous service to PCA, Zone 7 and especially both Golden Gate and Loma Prieta Regions.

What further distinguishes Dave is how he invests himself in a very personal way and serves as an example in everything we do. To put it simply, Dave is a wonderful and constant example of caring about the people in PCA!
