In the Zone – January 2026

Hello Zone 7!

Happy New Year! 🎉 I’m SO excited to see the momentum and energy already rolling in from across our Regions. Fire up those flat-sixes, warm up the tires, and buckle in—2026 is shaping up to be a busy and amazing year.

As always, I need to start with a heartfelt thank-you to our Region Presidents, Boards, Committee Chairs, VOLUNTEERS, and members—the reason we do all of this. I hope each of you did something fun, exciting, or a little bit unique in 2025. My challenge to you for the new year? Do that again… and maybe try something you’ve never done before. Trust me—if you want to stay busy in PCA, you absolutely can. Ask me how I know. 😊

2026 Zone 7 Region Leadership

Here’s your Region President and Vice President lineup for 2026:

Thank you to all of these leaders for stepping up to guide their Regions this year. Your dedication is what keeps Zone 7 strong.

Autocross: Full Throttle for 2026

I’d like to officially welcome Drew Powers, your new Zone 7 Autocross Chair. Drew, along with your Region Autocross Chairs, is focused on continuing the growth of autocross throughout Zone 7.

And a very special thank-you to Brant Ballantyne for his years of outstanding leadership. Brant truly helped shape our series into what it is today—competitive, inclusive, and most importantly, FUN.

The 2026 Zone Autocross Series calendar is listed on our website. Will we see you out there threading the needle between the cones? I hope so!

Concours: Show Time

Continuing as Zone 7 Concours Co-Chairs are Roy Schauben and Simone Kopitzki. Our Concours Series keeps growing, with more participants and more stunning cars each year. Look for the 2026 calendar to be posted SOON.

We’re excited to announce that another event from a newly invigorated Region will be added to the schedule. Judges training will be offered at the Zone level, and several Regions are also hosting local sessions on how to prep and participate. There truly are classes for everyone—whether you’re new or seasoned.

Our Concours Awards Event is currently in the planning stages, with a target date of February 28th.

Stay Connected

Do you follow Zone 7 on Facebook? If not, now’s the time! Huge thanks to David Bunch, always-active Zone Social Media Chair. David somehow knows what every Region is up to and is lightning-fast about sharing.

We have three Zone 7 pages:

As the cool kids say… “Follow me.”

Your Zone 7 Hub

A big thank-you as well to Richard Chew, our award-winning Zone 7 Webmaster. If you want to know what’s happening in Zone 7, this is where you land. You’ll find links to Zone Series events, Region websites, and plenty of ways to stay connected. See the “Stay Connected” section above.

Zone 7 Secretary

Thank you to Rik Larson who no matter how hard I try makes me look better (at least on paper.) Rik checks this column / often adds needed details. He has a great insight on what the Regions are doing, He and I are here to help Region market their needed events. Please do send us info if there is something that needs to be added for members to know.
I’m truly looking forward to supporting all our Regions throughout 2026. I hope to see you at an event soon—and I’ll bet we can find something to talk about.
