Hello Zone 7!
And just like that… here we are in December! Hard to believe another year has come and gone, but here we stand—on the edge of the holidays, with a fresh new PCA year just around the corner. I want to wish each and every one of you a warm, joyful, and truly happy holiday season. I’m already excited to see what 2026 brings for our Regions, our members, and our cars.
As we wrap up 2025, I want to pause for a moment and thank the many people who pour their time, energy, and talent into making Zone 7 the vibrant, active community it is. PCA is truly fueled by volunteers, and nowhere is that more evident than right here in our Zone.
Thank You, Region Presidents
I’ve been fortunate this year to work with 10 outstanding Region Presidents—leaders who represent the heart of Zone 7:
- Bob Hilton – Diablo Region
- Howard Yao – Golden Gate Region
- Dana Drysdale – Loma Prieta Region
- Mark McMahon – Monterey Region
- Sharon Neidel – Redwood Region
- John Leet – Sacramento Valley Region
- Susanne Waite – Sequoia Region
- Terry Topolski – Shasta Region
- Lawrence Havlick – Sierra Nevada Region
- Jeff Rosenthal – Yosemite Region
Thank you all for your leadership, your passion, your creativity, and your commitment to your members. I’ve been lucky to help support your events and to witness so many of the incredible things happening within each Region.
Some of these faces and roles will be changing in 2026, and I’ll share all the details in next month’s column.
To All Region Boards and Chairs
A huge shout-out to every board member and chair in every Region. You’re the big cogs in the PCA machine—the ones who plan, coordinate, check boxes, solve problems, and somehow make it all look easy. Whether you’re running membership, events, social media, driving tours, safety, tech, or anything else, please know your work matters and is deeply appreciated across the entire Zone.
Zone-Level Thanks
I’d be remiss if I didn’t spotlight our Zone 7 Secretary, Rik Larson. Rik is the person who turns my ramblings into clear communication, cross-checks calendars across 10 Regions, and helps determine what’s worth highlighting each month. Rik—thank you for keeping this Zone pointed in the right direction.
We are also incredibly lucky to have a thriving Zone 7 Autocross Series. Big thanks to Brant Ballantyne, our Zone 7 Autocross Chair, for his year-round work alongside all the Region autocross chairs. They fine-tune rules, collaborate on schedules, and deliver some of the best autocross events you’ll find anywhere in PCA.
For Concours, we owe a huge thank-you to Roy Schauben and Simone Kopitzki, our Zone 7 Concours Co-Chairs. Their dedication and steady involvement continue to elevate the Zone Series and make these events such a success.
It’s a long list—I know. But that’s the beauty of PCA: a community powered by people who care.
Thank you all for an incredible 2025. It’s been a privilege to serve as your Zone 7 Representative. Enjoy the holidays, enjoy your families, enjoy your Porsches—and I’ll see you in 2026!
Warmest holiday wishes,
